Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

Human study of ion implantation as a surface treatment for dental implants

open access: yes, 2013
This clinical study evaluated a new surface treatment of ion implantation with CO ions which has previously been subjected to extensive study in animal models. The aim of this work was to assess its effect in humans. Experimental mini-implants were used;

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Promoted cell and material interaction on atmospheric pressure plasma treated titanium

open access: yes, 2012
Surface carbon contamination is a natural phenomenon. However, it interferes with cell–biomaterial interaction. In order to eliminate the interference, atmospheric pressure plasma treatment was employed. Dielectric barrier discharge treatment of titanium

Thermal Modification Intensity of Heat-treated Poplar Wood. Part 2: Characterization and Predication from Outside to Core Layers

open access: yesDrvna Industrija
Based on the previous study of the heat-treated wood at 0-3 mm surface layer, this study focuses on the transition of thermal modification intensity on 160-220 °C heat-treated poplar from surface to core layers.

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

Laser surface modification of Ti alloys

open access: yes, 2010
The laser surface engineering of titanium alloys has been developed over the past 30 years to produce a modified layer up to 1mm depth, thicker than alternative techniques.
