Enhanced Mechanical Properties of Surface Treated AZ31 Reinforced Polymer Composites

open access: yesCrystals, 2020
To enhance the potential application of naturally biodegradable polylactic acid (PLA)-based composites reinforced with magnesium alloy, anodized coatings between Mg and PLA were fabricated on AZ31 magnesium alloy rods.

On the surface topography of ultrashort laser pulse treated steel surfaces

open access: yesApplied Surface Science, 2011
This paper concentrates on observations of the surface topography by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) on alloyed and stainless steels samples treated by ultrashort laser pulses with duration of 210 fs and 6.7 ps. Globular-like and jet-like objects were found depending on the various levels of the fluence applied.

Effects of the Fluid Replacement Method During Online Hemodiafiltration on the Solute Removal Performance and Biocompatibility Using the Asymmetric Cellulose Triacetate Membrane

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

The resistance of surfaces treated with oils and waxes to the action of dry heat [PDF]

open access: yesGlasnik Šumarskog Fakulteta: Univerzitet u Beogradu, 2009
Surface treatment of wood can be done with different coatings, and the choice of the appropriate system of processing depends on several factors, such as technological, aesthetic, economic and ecological.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Crystal surfaces with correlated disorder: Phase transitions between roughening and superroughening

open access: yes, 1995
A theory for surface transitions in the presence of a disordered pinning potential is presented. Arbitrary disorder correlations are treated in the framework of a dynamical functional renormalization group.
