Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

A polarimetric-phase-enhanced intensity interrogation scheme leveraging the polarization-dependent sharp phase change induced by the surface wave excitation at a low-optical-loss sensor’s surface is proposed and experimentally demonstrated.

Polarization conversion with a photonic crystal slab [PDF]
We show that a photonic crystal slab can enable efficient polarization conversion. Two mechanisms are identified. The first mechanism relies on the anisotropy of the bulk properties of the metamaterial and is mediated by interferences.

Impact of a Turbulent Ocean Surface on Laser Beam Propagation
The roughness of the ocean surface significantly impacts air-to-sea imaging, oceanographic monitoring, and optical communication. Most current and previous methods for addressing this roughness and its impact on optical propagation are either entirely ...

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

A Coherent on Receive X-Band Marine Radar for Ocean Observations
Marine radars are increasingly popular for monitoring meteorological and oceanographic parameters such as ocean surface wind, waves and currents as well as bathymetry and shorelines.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Simplified Mathieu’s equation with linear friction [PDF]
Consider a second order differential linear periodic equation. The friction coefficient is real positive constant. Some transformation of the solution and its first derivative allow writing two-order differential equations with void friction coefficients.

By "surface waves" one means a special kind of waves that propagate at the interface between two different media. There exists a large variety of such waves, which are interesting on their own, and sometimes have also practical importance and technological applications.
