MODEL OF GENERALIZED MACHINE-TOOL [PDF]
This paper presents a revolutionary and modern concept according to whom the computer can mold and shape a machine tool, generating surfaces of the machined parts with an accuracy of less than 0.01μm.

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Prediction of Sliding Wear of Artificial Rough Surfaces [PDF]
When two surfaces are brought in contact, deformation takes place at asperity level. The local pressure distribution and deformation of the contacting surfaces are importance with respect to wear.

Molecular Dynamics Simulation of Polyacrylamide Adsorption on Calcite
In poorly consolidated carbonate rock reservoirs, solids production risk, which can lead to increased environmental waste, can be mitigated by injecting formation-strengthening chemicals. Classical atomistic molecular dynamics (MD) simulation is employed

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

The Arithmetic and Geometry of a Class of Algebraic Surfaces of General Type and Geometric Genus One [PDF]
We study of a class of algebraic surfaces of general type and geometric genus one, with a view toward arithmetic results. These surfaces, called CC surfaces here, have been classified over the complex numbers by Catanese and Ciliberto.

Smart polymer surfaces: Concepts and applications in biosciences
S.1-33Stimuli-responsive macromolecules (i.e., pH-, thermo-, photo-, chemo-, and bioresponsive polymers) have gained exponential importance in materials science, nanotechnology, and biotechnology during the last two decades.

I review the definition and types of (closed) trapped surfaces. Surprising global properties are shown, such as their "clairvoyance" and the possibility that they enter into flat portions of the spacetime. Several results on the interplay of trapped surfaces with vector fields and with spatial hypersurfaces are presented.
