Diffuse interface modelling of soluble surfactants in two-pahse flow [PDF]
Phase field models for two-phase flow with a surfactant soluble in possibly both fluids are derived from balance equations and an energy inequality so that thermodynamic consistency is guaranteed.

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

CARBONACEOUS NANOSIZED SURFACTANT CARRIERS AND OIL-INDUCED VISCOELASTIC FLUID FOR POTENTIAL EOR APPLICATIONS [PDF]
This dissertation aims to advance the conventional tertiary oil recovery method, surfactant flooding process. Via injecting a finite slug of surfactant-only or mixture of surfactant/polymer solution into reservoir, surfactants are capable to dramatically

Controlling liquid splash on superhydrophobic surfaces by a vesicle surfactant
By adding a small amount of a vesicle surfactant, “unavoidable” splashing is considerably reduced on superhydrophobic surfaces. Deposition of liquid droplets on solid surfaces is of great importance to many fundamental scientific principles and ...

Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.
