Endovascular coil embolization of residual or recurrent aneurysms after surgical clipping

open access: yes, 2000
Purpose: Treatment of residual or recurrent aneurysms after surgical clipping is a challenge and most surgeons prefer to avoid a second surgical attempt.

Surgical clipping of flow related giant unruptured anterior spinal artery aneurysm secondary to co-arctation of aorta: Management challenges and lessons learnt

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Neurosurgery, 2017
Background: Anterior spinal artery aneurysms (ASAA) are extremely rare. While these aneurysms are very well known to cause spinal subarachnoid haemorrhage/hematomyelia secondary to sudden rupture, presentation with chronic myelopathy remains extremely ...

A Soft Robotic Fish With a Dielectric Elastomer Actuator Body and Negative Stiffness Spine

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work introduces a bio‐mimetic soft robotic fish driven by fiber‐reinforced dielectric elastomer actuators integrated as its body. By prestretching this active skin against a flexible spine, a negative stiffness system is created, enabling large‐amplitude bending.

Results of surgical clipping in a neurointerventional dominant department

open access: yes, 2015
Objectives. It has been 10 years since the publication of International Subarachnoid Aneurysm Trial (ISAT)1–3 and the first-line treatment for cerebral aneurysms in many UK neurosurgical centres is endovascular occlusion.

Bio‐Inspired Object Retrieval via Proximity‐Guided Adaptive Thigmotactic Exploration and Neuromorphic Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Sparse active‐infrared proximity sensing is coupled to an adaptive thigmotactic controller for camera‐inaccessible object retrieval. After grasping, receptor‐informed encoding transforms force, temperature, and wrist force–torque signals into spike trains for spiking neural network recognition.

Modulation of miR‐23b Wnt/β‐catenin Axis Strengthens Endothelial Barrier Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Early blood‐brain barrier (BBB) disruption contributes to stroke and CNS disease pathology. miR‐23b was identified as a regulator of BBB integrity in brain endothelial cells. Inhibition of miR‐23b enhanced barrier‐associated properties, promoted repair‐related signaling, and reduced BBB leakage in experimental stroke models, supporting further ...

Clinical Outcome of Intracranial Aneurysms:A Retrospective Comparison Between Endovascular Coiling and Neurosurgical Clipping

open access: yesIndian Journal of Anaesthesia, 2008
Endovascular coiling (EC) is being increasingly used as an alternative to surgical clipping (SC) for intracranial aneurysms, although the relative benefits of these two approaches have yet to be established.
