On‐treatment dynamics of circulating extracellular vesicles in the first‐line setting of patients with advanced non‐small cell lung cancer: the LEXOVE prospective study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 5, Page 1422-1435, May 2025.
The LEXOVE prospective study evaluated plasma cell‐free extracellular vesicle (cfEV) dynamics using Bradford assay and dynamic light scattering in metastatic non‐small cell lung cancer patients undergoing first‐line treatments, correlating a ∆cfEV < 20% with improved median progression‐free survival in responders versus non‐responders.

Surgical Phase Recognition in Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Automatic recognition of surgical phases in surgical videos is a fundamental task in surgical workflow analysis. In this report, we propose a Transformer-based method that utilizes calibrated confidence scores for a 2-stage inference pipeline, which dynamically switches between a baseline model and a separately trained transition model depending on the

Cellular liquid biopsy provides unique chances for disease monitoring, preclinical model generation and therapy adjustment in rare salivary gland cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We quantified and cultured circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of 62 patients with various cancer types and generated CTC‐derived tumoroid models from two salivary gland cancer patients. Cellular liquid biopsy‐derived information enabled molecular genetic assessment of systemic disease heterogeneity and functional testing for therapy selection in both ...

Augmented reality in computer-assisted interventions based on patient-specific 3D printed reference

open access: yesHealthcare Technology Letters, 2018
Augmented reality (AR) can be an interesting technology for clinical scenarios as an alternative to conventional surgical navigation. However, the registration between augmented data and real-world spaces is a limiting factor.

Surgical-VQA: Visual Question Answering in Surgical Scenes using Transformer [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Visual question answering (VQA) in surgery is largely unexplored. Expert surgeons are scarce and are often overloaded with clinical and academic workloads. This overload often limits their time answering questionnaires from patients, medical students or junior residents related to surgical procedures.

Computer-aided position planning of miniplates to treat facial bone defects

open access: yes, 2017
In this contribution, a software system for computer-aided position planning of miniplates to treat facial bone defects is proposed. The intra-operatively used bone plates have to be passively adapted on the underlying bone contours for adequate bone ...
