Failure mechanism of Mesozoic soft rock roadway in Shajihai coal mine and its surrounding rock control

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mining Science and Technology, 2014
Abstract In view of the buckling failure caused by large deformation of Mesozoic soft rock roadway in Shajihai mining area, such as serious roof fall, rib spalling, floor heave, etc., based on the detail site investigation, theoretical analysis, mineral composition test, microstructure test, water-physical property test and field experiments were ...

3D Soft Hydrogels Induce Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells “Deep” Quiescence

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Three‐dimensional soft hydrogels mimicking the bone marrow niche induce deep quiescence in human mesenchymal stem cells. Unlike 2D culture, 3D matrices halt proliferation, regulate cell‐cycle and quiescence markers, and downregulate mTORC1 signaling, preserving stem cell phenotype and therapeutic potential ex vivo.

Frictional experiments of dolerite at intermediate slip rates with controlled temperature: Rate weakening or temperature weakening? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A rotary shear apparatus has been newly set up in Chiba University which can control the temperature near a sliding surface, T_meas, up to 1000°C independently from slip rate, V.

A Data Driven Review of In Vitro Electrical and Mechanical Stimulation for Post‐Acute Phase Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines how in vitro electrical and mechanical stimulation modulates wound healing in fibroblasts and keratinocytes. Analyzing over 560 experimental data points, we relate stimulation parameters to proliferation and migration outcomes, evaluate platform designs, and highlight the need for multi‐parameter optimization to advance targeted ...

Neutron Shielding Optimization Studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The IsoDAR sterile-neutrino search calls for a high neutron flux from a 60 MeV proton beam striking a beryllium target, that flood a sleeve of highly-enriched 7Li, the beta-decay of the resulting 8Li giving the desired neutrinos for the veryshort ...

Recapitulating Endochondral Ossification for Bone Repair: From Development to Engineering Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the developmental basis of endochondral ossification (ECO) and its applications in bone tissue engineering (BTE). It first outlines the key biological processes and signaling pathways underlying ECO, then discusses biomaterial‐based engineering strategies derived from these principles, and finally highlights future directions for

Research on collaborative control technology of “unloading and support balance” for surrounding rock of isolated roadway under the influence of dynamic pressure

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan
During the mining process of deep coal mining faces, they are often affected by strong mining dynamic pressure, resulting in strong mining pressure and significant deformation and damage of the surrounding rock of the roadway.

The occlusion illusion: Partial modal completion or apparent distance? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In the occlusion illusion, the visible portion of a partly occluded object (eg a semicircle partly hidden behind a rectangle) appears to be significantly larger than a physically identical region that is fully visible.

Ferroelectric Quantum Dots for Retinomorphic In‐Sensor Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work has provided a protocol for fabricating retinomorphic phototransistors by integrating ferroelectric ligands with quantum dots. The resulting device combines ferroelectricity, optical responsiveness, and low‐power operation to enable adaptive signal amplification and high recognition accuracy under low‐light conditions, while supporting ...
