Russian WWER Surveillance Specimen Programs

2018
This paper describes surveillance specimen programs of Water-Water Energetic Reactor (WWER) water-cooled water-moderated reactor pressure vessels and experiences of controlling the properties of first-generation WWER-440 reactor pressure vessels, which do not have surveillance specimens.

Strengthening Bordetella pertussis genomic surveillance by direct sequencing of residual positive specimens

Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 2023
ABSTRACT Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) of microbial pathogens recovered from patients with infectious disease facilitates high-resolution strain characterization and molecular epidemiology. However, increasing reliance on culture-independent methods to diagnose infectious diseases has resulted in few ...

Reconstitution of Fracture Toughness Specimen for Surveillance Test

1998
Fracture toughness is one of the most important material properties that influences the integrity of reactor pressure vessels (RPVs). Methods for reconstitution of fracture toughness specimen have been developed preliminarily in order to increase the number of fracture toughness data of irradiated RPV steels. The specimen adopted in this study was a 12.

Small Specimen Testing Applied at Surveillance Extension

1998
The WWER-440 V-213 type RPVs are equipped with the surveillance specimens used to predict the embrittlement of the RPV material. These specimens are located near the core, resulting in accelerated irradiation. After four years of operation only one overexposed set remains in each unit.

Selection of Specimen Types for Irradiation Surveillance Programs

1983
Recent trends in coping with embrittlement problems in reactor pressure vessels (RPVs) show two main directions of development: (1) improvement of the vessel materials and (2) limitations of fluence over the design life of the RPV. For several reasons, however, adequate irradiation surveillance programs are still considered to be necessary in the ...

Neutron fluence calculations for embrittlement surveillance specimens in VVER-1000

Annals of Nuclear Energy, 2009
Abstract Neutron fluence spectrum calculations have been performed for the reactor pressure vessel of a VVER-1000, applying the Monte Carlo code TRAMO. Activities measured earlier in Balakovo-1 by fluence monitors, placed in special Charpy surveillance containers, are compared to TRAMO results. The average deviation from the measurements is about 5%.

Surveillance Specimen Programs for WWER Type Reactors

Volume 7: Operations, Applications, and Components, 2005
Reactor pressure vessels (RPV) are components with the highest importance for the reactor safety and operation as they contain practically whole inventory of fission material but they are damaged/aged during their operation by an intensive reactor radiation.

Long Term Operation and Surveillance Specimen Program of WWER RPVs

ASME 2010 Pressure Vessels and Piping Conference: Volume 7, 2010
Long Term Operation (LTO) to 60 or 80 years of operation also requires a reliable information about the potential irradiation embrittlement (and also thermal ageing) of reactor pressure vessel materials. Such information is usually obtained from testing specimens within the surveillance specimen program that is designed for the design RPV life ...

[Safety surveillance and management of specimen associated with SARS in clinical laboratory].

Beijing da xue xue bao. Yi xue ban = Journal of Peking University. Health sciences, 2003
To avoid the staff's infection and environmental contamination, we establish the rules suited for severe infectious disease in our laboratory.(1) Enhance the staff's notion of safety, institute a rule for biological safety and make sure the responsibility of safety for everybody.
