Magnitude and determinants of adherence to iron-folic acid supplementation among Somaliland pregnant women in Ahmed-dhagah district: A facility based cross-sectional study

open access: yesClinical Epidemiology and Global Health
Background: Iron deficiency is a major cause of anemia globally, especially in low-income countries, and pregnant women are at higher risk. Despite guidelines recommending IFA supplementation, adherence remains low. Therefore, the aim of this study is to

Quantile Association for Bivariate Survival Data

open access: yesBiometrics, 2016
SummaryBivariate survival data arise frequently in familial association studies of chronic disease onset, as well as in clinical trials and observational studies with multiple time to event endpoints. The association between two event times is often scientifically important.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Immunoproteomic insights into inflammatory diseases of the critically endangered black rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis)

open access: yesScientific Reports
Black rhinoceros are critically endangered due to poaching in the wild (in situ). Globally, fewer than 200 animals are maintained as an ex situ insurance population. Unfortunately, the ex situ population faces major sustainability challenges from disease

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
