Nonparametric priors for vector of survival functions [PDF]
The paper proposes a new nonparametric prior for two-dimensional vectors of survival functions . The definition is based on the Lévy copula and it is used to model, in a nonparametric Bayesian framework, two-sample survival data. Such an application yields a natural extension of the more familiar neutral to the right process of Doksum (1974) adopted ...

Product-limit survival functions with correlated survival times
Lifetime Data Analysis, 1995A simple variance estimator for product-limit survival functions is demonstrated for survival times with nested errors. Such data arise whenever survival times are observed within clusters of related observations. Greenwood's formula, which assumes independent observations, is not appropriate in this situation.

Microplastics impair amphibian survival, body condition and function.
Chemosphere, 2019Microplastics (MPs) are contaminants of increasing concern; they are abundant, ubiquitous and persistent over time, representing potential risks for organisms and ecosystems.

Memory Ordering of Survival Functions
Statistics, 1992A new partial ordering among life distributions in terms of their memories of aging is introduced. The relationship between this ordering and various existing orderings of life distributions are discussed. For example, it is shown that there is no relationship between memory ordering and failure rate ordering.

Cognitive functioning and survival in psychogeriatric patients
Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica, 1991The relationship between cognitive functioning and survival was studied among 92 people referred to a psychogeriatric assessment unit. A follow‐up 4–5 years later showed that the nonsurvivors initially had lower scores on the Mini‐Mental State Examination (MMSE) than the survivors.

Survival data arise when we are interested in the time of occurrence of an event, and the survival function describes the cumulative probability of surviving beyond a given time point in a given group of individuals. Methods to estimate the survival function can be classified in nonparametric and model-based methods and the main ones are described here.

Survival, Reproduction, and Functional Efficiency
Philosophy of Science, 2019The article examines the relationship between a trait’s effect on survival and reproduction and the notion of functional efficiency underlying the biostatistical theory of health (BST). BST faces the problem of how to measure a trait’s joint effect on survival and reproduction in its account of function. If one measures the joint effect by means of the

FORM, FUNCTION, AND FITNESS: PATHWAYS TO SURVIVAL
Evolution, 2008Two hypotheses have been considered in the literature regarding how anuran morphology reduces predation risk: by (1) improving escape swimming performance, or (2) using the tail as a lure to draw predator strikes away from the body of the tadpole. We investigated these hypotheses using a modification of the morphology, performance, and fitness path ...

Cognitive functioning predicts survival in the elderly
Journal of Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychology, 2008Prior studies of aging have identified a number of predictors of survival, including performances on some cognitive-functioning tests. However, few studies have used a multidomain test battery to identify which specific cognitive abilities predict death.
