Equilibrium Near-Bed Concentration of Suspended Sediment

Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 1999
A new approach is presented for calculating the equilibrium near-bed concentration of suspended sediment in an alluvial channel flow. It is formulated from the balance between bed sediment entrainment and suspended sediment deposition across the near-bed boundary.

Methods for measuring suspended-sediment concentration in streams

2003, Las Vegas, NV July 27-30, 2003, 2003
Turbidity sensors are frequently used for real-time measurement of solids concentration in water. Non-soil objects present in a water sample, including algae, organic matter, various microorganisms, colloidal material, and dissolved molecules such as tannins and lignins, may affect the turbidity readings.

Densimetric Monitoring Technique for Suspended-Sediment Concentrations

Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 2010
Suspended-sediment concentration (SSC) in surface-water bodies such as rivers and reservoirs is one of the most important hydrologic data in solving engineering problems ranging from hydraulic design, river restoration, to water quality improvement and water resources management.

Transfer function models of suspended sediment concentration

Water Resources Research, 1991
The majority of past suspended sediment concentration modeling efforts have relied on simple regression analysis. Problems with these models, and in particular, sediment rating curves, have been gaining attention recently. It is argued here that many of the problems result from the fact that simple regression models are inappropriate for modeling ...
