Methods for measuring suspended-sediment concentration in streams

2003, Las Vegas, NV July 27-30, 2003, 2003
Turbidity sensors are frequently used for real-time measurement of solids concentration in water. Non-soil objects present in a water sample, including algae, organic matter, various microorganisms, colloidal material, and dissolved molecules such as tannins and lignins, may affect the turbidity readings.

Suspended sediment concentration prediction by Geno-Kalman filtering

Expert Systems with Applications, 2010
More accurate prediction of suspended sediment concentration will likely lead to more economic hydraulic construction and provide a valuable basis for the optimum operation of water resources. The majority of past models have relied on simple regression analysis relating discharge to concentration.
