Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Suspended Solids Concentrations in Tributaries to the Great Bay Estuary Watershed in 2010 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Nitrogen, phosphorus, and sediment loads to the Great Bay Estuary are a growing concern. The Piscataqua Region Estuaries Partnership (PREP) calculates the nitrogen load from tributaries to the Great Bay Estuary for its State of the Estuaries reports ...

The stability of flow with suspended sediment in an inclined channel of movable bed

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics, 1991
In this work the author has studied the stability of flow with suspended sediment in an inclined channel of movable bed at different stages of flow. The obtained result shows that when the flow with suspended sediment is at the stage of deposition or ...

Assessment of Soft Computing Techniques for the Prediction of Suspended Sediment Loads in Rivers

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
A key goal of sediment management is the quantification of suspended sediment load (SSL) in rivers. This research focused on a comparison of different means of suspended sediment estimation in rivers.

Suspended Sediment Concentration and Sediment Loading of Bernam River (Perak, Malaysia)

open access: yesTransylvanian Review of Systematical and Ecological Research, 2020
Abstract This paper presents some of our preliminary results on the sediment discharge and load based on weekly sampling starting from Oct 2017 to January 2018. Results show that sediment rating curve of Bernam River was R2 = 0.86 high flow and R2 = 0.5 low flow. Average sediment loading throughout this sampling period is 1,144 t.

ASSESSING SEDIMENT REGIME ALTERATION OF THE LOWER DRAVA RIVER

open access: yese-GFOS, 2019
Alterations to the sediment regime of the lower Drava River were assessed using the rescaled adjusted partial sums (RAPS) method and possible causes of these changes are discussed in this paper.

The Hexactinellid Deep-Water Sponge Vazella pourtalesii (Schmidt, 1870) (Rossellidae) Copes With Temporarily Elevated Concentrations of Suspended Natural Sediment

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2021
Plumes of re-suspended sediment potentially smother and clog the aquiferous system of filter-feeding sponges with unknown implications for their health. For the first time, we examined the physiological responses of repeated exposure to natural sediment ...

The morphodynamics of a swash event on an erodible beach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A high-accuracy numerical solution, coupling one-dimensional shallow water and bed-evolution equations, with, for the first time, a suspended sediment advection equation, thereby including bed and/or suspended load, is used to examine two swash events on

Prediction of Suspended Sediment Load Using Data-Driven Models [PDF]

open access: yesWater, 2019
Estimation of suspended sediments carried by natural rivers is essential for projects related to water resource planning and management. This study proposes a dynamic evolving neural fuzzy inference system (DENFIS) as an alternative tool to estimate the suspended sediment load based on previous values of streamflow and sediment. Several input scenarios

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Application of Sediment Runoff Model to the Wlingi Reservoir Watershed, Indonesia

open access: yesCivil and Environmental Science Journal, 2020
Sedimentation is the main problem in Wlingi reservoirs. They are suffering from severe watershed erosion and a heavy load of volcanic ash ejected from the eruption of Mount Kelud.
