Effects of River Discharge and Sediment Load on Sediment Plume Behaviors in a Coastal Region: The Yukon River, Alaska and the Bering Sea

open access: yesHydrology, 2021
In the Bering Sea around and off the Yukon River delta, surface sediment plumes are markedly formed by glacier-melt and rainfall sediment runoffs of the Yukon River, Alaska, in June– September.

Riverine transfer of heavy metals from Patagonia to the southwestern Atlantic Ocean [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The occurrence and geochemical behaviour of Fe, Mn, Pb, Cu, Ni, Cr, Zn and Co are studied in riverine detrital materials transported by Patagonian rivers.

Nearshore Suspended Sediment Load During Storm and Post-Storm Conditions

open access: yesCoastal Engineering 1980, 1980
As part of the DUCK-X experiment at the CERC field research facility at Duck, North Carolina in September, 1978, suspended sediment measurements were made along the CERC pier. In situ bulk water samples were collected during a moderate northeast storm and two days later during post-storm wave conditions.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Estimation of Suspended Sediment Concentrations with Adcp in Danube River

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology and Hydromechanics, 2013
An estimation procedure for suspended sediment concentrations based on the intensity of backscattered sound of acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCP) is introduced in this paper.

Assessment of GEP and ANN for Predicting Suspended Sediment Load: A Case Study of Ghatoor and Aland Rivers, West Azerbaijan, Iran [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hydraulic and Water Engineering
Estimation of the volume of suspended sediment load of rivers, especially when dam constructed on it, is one of the tremendous challenges that civil engineers faced.

Late Holocene erosion in NW Anatolia from sediments of Lake Manyas, Lake Ulubat and the southern shelf of the Marmara Sea, Turkey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This paper deals with modern and ancient sedimentation in fresh water lakes and the marine shelf of the southern Marmara region, NW Anatolia, Turkey. Most of the information has been obtained from monitoring of suspended load discharged into two lakes ...

Annual suspended sediment load of the Yenisei river

open access: yesIzvestiya Rossiiskoi akademii nauk. Seriya geograficheskaya, 2019
Field studies, including high-frequency sampling for suspended sediment flux estimation, were conducted in 20142016 in the city of Igarka, at the outlet of the Yenisei River. During spring freshet of each year, multiple suspended sediment concentration (SSC) peaks were observed, irrelated to water discharge fluctuations.

Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...
