Facet‐Dependent Activity of Fe3S4 Crystal in Peroxydisulfate Activation for Organic Pollutants Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fe3S4 crystal with the exposed [001] facet exhibits higher catalytic activity for activating peroxydisulfate (PDS) to degrade clothianidin (CLO), which can be attributed to the dissolved Fe‐induced homogeneous catalytic process; while Fe3S4 crystal with the exposed [1‐21] facet exhibits excellent catalytic stability and durability, thereby boosting the

Ion Superhighways in a Hierarchical Polymer‐Ceramic Membrane Enable Rapid and Selective Lithium Extraction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A flexible PDMS‐LATP polymer‐ceramic membrane creates lithium‐ion “superhighways” for rapid and selective extraction from complex brines. The amorphous PDMS matrix suppresses nonselective leakage and stabilizes the ceramic network, while LATP provides preferential Li+ conduction.

Suspension bridges

2022
This chapter provides a summary of the principal requirements for the design and construction of gravity-anchored suspension bridges with a classical three-span layout. After a brief historical introduction, available types of structural cable are described.

Oscillations of Suspension Bridges

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1943
Abstract The author has developed a theory of oscillations of stiffened cable systems which is applicable to the design of suspension bridges. Dealing with free oscillations in the first part of the paper the author established a system of linear differential equations with variable coefficients taking into account the horizontal ...

Building a suspension bridge

Proceedings of the 29th annual ACM SIGUCCS conference on User services - SIGUCCS '01, 2001
Information and Access Technology (IAT) Services, the central Information Technology group at the University of Missouri-Columbia, operates computing sites in general access, classroom, and residence hall settings. The computing sites are supported by various methods including on-site Consultants, roaming Support Specialists, and a call-in Support ...

Aerodynamic Oscillations in Suspension Bridges

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1948
Abstract Following the failure in 1940 of the Tacoma Narrows suspension bridge by wind-driven oscillations, the need for developing in advance adequate data concerning wind speeds at which such oscillations occur became apparent. Numerous studies and experiments were undertaken on the subject, the present paper dealing with a symmetrical

AEROELASTIC STABILITY OF SUSPENSION BRIDGES

1980
ABSTRACT An advanced theory on the aeroelastic stability of suspension bridges has been developed by taking into account the drag effects of the aerodynamically shaped decks. The theory includes both structural systems of suspension bridges, the classical system of hanging bridges and the new system of prestressed bridges.

Leirfjord suspension bridge, investigations of an unconventional suspension bridge solution

IABSE Congress Reports
<p>In a typical single-span suspension bridge design, the stiffening girder is supported by a cross beam in the bridge tower axis. However, for the Leirfjord Bridge, a planned suspension bridge in Northern Norway that will span an 800 meter wide fjord, geological challenges necessitate deviations from traditional designs.

Dynamic Instability of Suspension Bridges

Civil-Comp Proceedings, 1991
Abstract Suspension bridges are long, slender flexible structures which have the potential to be susceptible to a variety of types of wind-induced instabilities, the most serious of which are divergence (due to stationary wind forces) and flutter (due to aerodynamic forces). Flutter occurs at certain wind speeds where aerodynamic forces acting on the
