All you can eat: the functional response of the cold-water coral Desmophyllum dianthus feeding on krill and copepods [PDF]
The feeding behavior of the cosmopolitan cold-water coral (CWC) Desmophyllum dianthus (Cnidaria: Scleractinia) is still poorly known. Its usual deep distribution restricts direct observations, and manipulative experiments are so far limited to prey that ...

Morphology, Transport, and Dynamics of Protein Adsorption in Open‐Cell Metal Foam
Stainless steel (SS) open‐cell foams are shown to adsorb more protein per unit area than previously reported 316L SS and chromium oxide surfaces under static and flow conditions. An integrated approach combining 3D pore imaging, flow simulation, and protein adsorption experiments characterizes the foam’s performance.

An Ex Vivo Evaluation of Cenobamate Administered via Enteral Tubes
Background Cenobamate is a new, Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved oral antiepileptic drug for treatment of focal seizures in adults. This study examined recovery of cenobamate from suspensions administered through ex vivo enteral feeding tubes.

A Multi‐Scale Machine Learning Framework for the Inverse Design of High Entropy Alloys
High‐entropy alloys offer vast potential for various applications, including electrocatalysis; however, their compositional complexity challenges conventional screening. We introduce an inverse‐design framework combining two neural networks to determine optimal compositions and reconstruct nanoparticle geometry from targeted properties and conventional

Feeding Currents and Particle Capture Mechanisms in Suspension Feeding Animals [PDF]
The apparent diversity of suspension feeding animals is, in one sense, more apparent than real. Virtually all suspension feeders capture particles from the water at low Reynolds numbers with cylindrical filtering elements, so, at the level of the filtering elements, flow patterns are identical and viscous forces dominate the situation.

Model-assisted measurements of suspension-feeding flow velocities [PDF]
Benthic marine suspension feeders provide an important link between benthic and pelagic ecosystems. The strength of this link is determined by suspension-feeding rates. Many studies have measured suspension-feeding rates using indirect clearance-rate methods, which are based on the depletion of suspended particles.
