Ultrastable Self‐Cross‐linkable Electro‐Optic Materials Based on a Bisanthracene Scaffold

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A novel bisanthracene‐based self‐cross‐linkable electro‐optic chromophore (TD2) is developed. TD2 exhibits a high r33 of 141 pm/V and a cross‐linked Tg up to 195 °C, retaining 99.75% of its initial EO response after 500 h at 85 °C, showing record‐high thermal stability for single‐molecule self‐cross‐linking EO materials.

The systematic use of the five modes for the suspension of judgement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The five modes are a list of tools used by ancient sceptics to guide dogmatic people towards suspending their judgement. Attributed to Agrippa (of uncertain date) and used extensively by Sextus Empiricus (2nd or 3rd century CE), these modes are still ...

Streamlined V3.5+ Electrolyte Production by Leveraging Chemical and Catalytic Reductions

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A tuned catalytic process for V3.5+ electrolyte production is shown to streamline the conventional chemical‐to‐catalytic sequence by extending catalysis into the rate‐determining reduction regime. This study shows that initiating catalysis in this regime shortens the overall production time by 67% based on rigorous thermodynamic and kinetic analysis of

On the Motivations of a Skeptic, and Her Practice

open access: yesPeitho, 2016
The aim of Pyrrhonism is deceptively simple: to achieve a state of ataraxia, of tranquility and relief from perturbation. But what is the extent of the ataraxia envisioned? Must the Skeptic admit a hard distinction between disturbances apparently related

Essential Updates 2024–2026: Advances in Colorectal Cancer Surgery

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Surgical innovation in colorectal cancer is increasingly judged not by technical feasibility alone, but by whether it improves oncological outcomes, preserves function, reduces morbidity, or makes difficult procedures more reproducible. This structured narrative review examines major surgical studies published from January 2024 through July ...

Population balance modeling and digital design of degree of agglomeration in industrial crystallization

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract This study presents a coupled population balance model (PBM) for describing the degree‐of‐agglomeration (DoA) in crystallization by independently tracking total particle and agglomerate number densities. Applied to an industrial active pharmaceutical ingredient, the model outperformed bridge‐counting methods and accurately captured DoA trends ...

The Epistemic and Ethical Risk of WHO's Suspension of Judgement on Aerosol Transmission Hypothesis during the Pandemic

open access: yesYixue yu zhexue
World Health Organization (WHO) has faced significant controversy over its extremely rigorous and slow process of confirming whether aerosol transmission was a route for COVID-19 during the pandemic.
