Processamento de cerâmicas reticuladas a partir de matérias-primas naturais Processing of reticulated ceramics using natural raw material

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Education Interrupted: The Growing Use of Suspensions in New York City's Public Schools [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The New York Civil Liberties Union analyzed 10 years of discipline data from New York City schools, and found that:*The total number of suspensions in New York City grew at an alarming rate over the last decade: One out of every 14 students was suspended

Viscosity of Colloidal Suspensions

open access: yes, 1996
Simple expressions are given for the Newtonian viscosity $\eta_N(\phi)$ as well as the viscoelastic behavior of the viscosity $\eta(\phi,\omega)$ of neutral monodisperse hard sphere colloidal suspensions as a function of volume fraction $\phi$ and ...

Influence of shear stress applied during flow stoppage and rest period on the mechanical properties of thixotropic suspensions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We study the solid mechanical properties of several thixotropic suspensions as a function of the shear stress history applied during their flow stoppage and their aging in their solid state.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Investigation of the dynamical slowing down process in soft glassy colloidal suspensions: comparisons with supercooled liquids

open access: yes, 2013
The primary and secondary relaxation timescales of aging colloidal suspensions of Laponite are estimated from intensity autocorrelation functions obtained in dynamic light scattering (DLS) experiments.

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Suspended Education: Urban Middle Schools in Crisis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Examines the rise in school suspensions; their effectiveness; the widening racial/ethnic discipline gap, especially for African-American boys; and the impact of suspensions on academic success and likelihood of incarceration.

Collapsing granular suspensions

open access: yes, 2009
A 2D contact dynamics model is proposed as a microscopic description of a collapsing suspension/soil to capture the essential physical processes underlying the dynamics of generation and collapse of the system.
