Libraries: Sustaining the Digital Reader Experience

open access: yesScholarly and Research Communication, 2015
As librarians involved with two online reading groups, Read Watch Play (a regular themed Twitter chat) and Read With Me (a live Web-based, face-to-face discussion using Adobe Connect), we consider how we present text in these specific online environments, and how this impacts the reader’s experience. Formats and interfaces

Design Strategies and Emerging Applications of High‐Performance Flexible Piezoresistive Pressure Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Flexible piezoresistive pressure sensors underpin wearable and soft electronics. This review links sensing physics, including contact resistance modulation, quantum tunneling and percolation, to unified materials/structure design. We highlight composite and graded architectures, interfacial/porous engineering, and microstructured 3D conductive networks

Ecological Sustainability in Libraries

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper we want to explain the role and necessity of ecological sustainability in libraries to overcome the Digital Divide. Digital Divide is not only the physical connection to the internet. It has also a multidimensional aspect. We want to have a closer look at one aspect of such a physical workplace. This shall be the ecological sustainability
