The reflection phenomena of SV‐waves in a generalized thermoelastic medium [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2000
We discuss the reflection of thermoelastic plane waves at a solid half‐space nearby a vacuum. We use the generalized thermoelastic waves to study the effects of one or two thermal relaxation times on the reflection plane harmonic waves. The study considered the thermal and the elastic waves of small amplitudes in a homogeneous, isotropic, and thermally

Magneto-elastic SV-wave at the interface of pre-stressed surface with voids under rotation

open access: yesJournal of the Mechanical Behavior of Materials, 2016
The aim of this paper is to study the behaviour of reflection of SV- wave at a free surface under the effects of magnetic field, initial stress, rotation and voids.

Surface Effect on Diffractions of Elastic Waves and Stress Concentration near a Cluster of Cylindrical Nanoholes Arranged as Quadrate Shape

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2015
We consider the multiple scattering of elastic waves (P-wave and SV-wave) by a cluster of nanosized cylindrical holes arranged as quadrate shape. When the radius of the holes shrinks to nanometers, the surface elasticity theory is adopted in analysis ...

Effects of a magnetic field and initial stress on reflection of SV-waves at a free surface with voids under gravity

open access: yesJournal of the Mechanical Behavior of Materials, 2018
The present study deals with the reflection of SV-waves at a free surface in the presence of magnetic field, initial stress, voids and gravity. When an SV-wave incident on the free surface of an elastic half space, two damped P-waves and an SV-wave are ...

Inversion of the reflected SV-wave for density and S-wave velocity structures [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Journal International, 2020
SUMMARY Density is one of the most essential properties that determines the dynamic behavior of the Earth. Besides, density has been commonly used to investigate the mineral composition, porosity and fluid content of rock. Therefore, a reliable estimation of the density structure is one of the most important objectives in both global ...

Ambient noise Love wave tomography of China

open access: yesEarth and Planetary Physics, 2019
We first report on the Love wave tomography of China based on ambient noise cross-correlations. We used 3 years of continuous waveform data recorded by 206 broadband seismic stations on the Chinese Mainland and 36 neighboring global stations and obtained

Study on the Single Scattering of Elastic Waves by a Cylindrical Fiber with a Partially Imperfect Bonding Using the Collocation Point Method

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2018
The single scattering of P- and SV-waves by a cylindrical fiber with a partially imperfect bonding to the surrounding matrix is investigated, which benefits the characterization of the behavior of elastic waves in composite materials.

Effects of Oblique Incidence of SV Waves on Nonlinear Seismic Response of a Lined Arched Tunnel

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2020
The incident direction of earthquake motion is an important factor affecting the seismic response of underground structures. In this study, a three-dimensional (3D) oblique incidence method of SV waves is proposed and the effects of incident angles of SV

Transient Sleep Deprivation Induces Persistent Auditory Neuropathy via ROS‐Initiated Neuroinflammation and BK Channel Suppression [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced science
Sleep disturbance severity closely tracks hearing loss in a clinical cohort, yet the mechanistic link remains unclear. Acute sleep deprivation is shown to trigger transient cochlear oxidative stress that switches into a self‐sustaining neuroinflammatory state, suppressing BK channels and causing irreversible synaptopathy.
