Evolution of SV-Wave with Gaussian Profile
International Applied Mechanics, 2017The evolution of a vertically polarized plane transverse wave (SV-wave) propagating in a nonlinear elastic medium is analyzed. The deformation process is described by the Murnaghan model, where the cubic nonlinearity is taken into account. Two approximate approaches are used and the solutions of the corresponding nonlinear wave equations are found for ...

The Fresnel zone for P-SV waves
Geophysics, 1991Abstract Mode-converted (P-SV) reflections in field data contain information about an area on the reflecting boundary, rather than a single point. For unmigrated data, the total area contributing to the observed reflection amplitude is approximated by the Fresnel zone.

The exact elastic impedance for P‐SV wave
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2007, 2007The existing shear-wave elastic impedance (SEI), and converted wave elastic impedance (PSEI) measures are constrained by constant Vs/Vp ratio assumption, small incidence angle and weak contrast across the interface. These assumptions are quite restrictive and their validity is difficult to ascertain. By extending the concept of P-wave Zoeppritz elastic

Displacement by SV Waves in Fluid Saturated Medium
2010 Second International Conference on Computer Research and Development, 2010This paper aims to study the diffusion of SV-waves when the medium is fluid saturated. SV-waves are propagated in the medium designed for studying the diffusive attribute. The mediums are chosen to fall into two distinctive groups: insoluble as well as soluble mediums. Refraction which is related to the wave's slowness is introduced in view of the fact

Global SV wave upper mantle model
We present a summary of all our seismological models based on surface wave observations. First, wen have updated our global SV model that is based on the waveform modelling of more than 3 millions Rayleigh waves recorded since 1976. The tomographic model is built using the same automated scheme as was presented in Debayle et al., GRL 2016, while the ...stephanie durand +3 more

Detection of waves converted from P to SV in the mantle
Physics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors, 1977Abstract A method is described for the detection of P to SV converted waves in the long-period P coda. The procedure involves axis rotation, transformation of records to a standard form and stacking of processed records from events of various epicentral distances.

Solutions of P-SV and SV-P waves in single-well imaging through reciprocity relations
Geophysics, 2020ABSTRACT Single-well imaging (SWI) is a borehole measurement technique for detecting geologic structures outside a borehole by using arrays of receivers to record the waves reflected from these structures. The asymptotic solutions of P-P, SV-SV, and SH-SH waves in SWI have been obtained, but the P-SV and SV-P waves have been ignored ...

Decoupled wave equations for P and SV waves in an acoustic VTI media
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2009, 2009In this paper, we decouple the P and SV wave components in an acoustic transversely isotropic media with vertical symmetric axis (VTI), and construct an independent pseudo-differential equation for each wave mode. The resulted wave equation for P-wave is unconditionally stable.

Coefficients of SH-wave conversion into SV- and P-waves by the crystal layer
2015 Days on Diffraction (DD), 2015Scattering of SH-wave in a crystalline layer bounded by isotropic media is considered. Computation of reflected and transmitted waves is performed by means of the transfer matrix method. Wave amplitudes are represented by elements of the transfer matrix.
