Increasing Trends in Hospitalisation With Diabetic Ketoacidosis at Type 1 Diabetes Diagnosis Among Children and Youth in the United States and England, 2002–2020

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 11, Page 10615-10624, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Background There is a paucity of population‐level data evaluating trends in the proportion of children and youth hospitalised with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) at the time of Type 1 diabetes (T1D) diagnosis. Methods National Medicaid (US publicly insured claims), MarketScan (US commercially insured claims) and Clinical Practice Research ...

A Thermodynamic Model of Antiferroelectics and Its Application to Electric Field Induced Antiferroelectric‐Ferroelectric Transition in PbZrO3

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 81, 8 October 2026.
A thermodynamic model that incorporates ferroelectric, antiferroelectric, and antiferrodistortive orders of PbZrO3${\rm PbZrO}_3$ is established and parameterized based on experimental measurements and first‐principles calculations. We derive a Clapeyron‐like equation for describing the temperature‐dependence of critical electric fields for the ...

Programmable Functional Silicification of DNA Origami Nanostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 56, 8 October 2026.
This work introduces additional functionality into silica‐coated DNA origami nanostructures using non‐standard silica precursors. A fluorescent precursor enables enhanced intracellular tracking, while a disulfide‐containing reagent yields redox‐responsive, degradable silica coatings.

Association Between HIV Infection Duration and Left Ventricular Concentric Remodeling and Myocardial Fibrosis: A Cross‐Sectional Study Using Cardiac MRI

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Volume 64, Issue 4, Page 1037-1049, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Antiretroviral therapy has transformed HIV into a chronic condition, yet cardiac injury remains a major issue. Purpose To assess the ability of cardiac MR imaging markers to predict cardiac injury and disease progression in HIV‐infected individuals. Study Type Prospective.

Standardized MRI‐Based Quantification of Epicardial Adipose Tissue Volume: Reproducibility and Agreement With Cardiac Computed Tomography

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Volume 64, Issue 4, Page 1052-1063, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Epicardial adipose tissue volume (EATV) is increasingly recognized as a cardiometabolic risk marker associated with adverse outcomes. The most established approach for EATV quantification is cardiac computed tomography (CT). MRI offers a radiation‐free alternative allowing simultaneous assessment of myocardial function and tissue ...

Valorization of Zingiber officinale Roscoe leaf biomass: phytotoxic potential and chemical profiling toward sustainable weed management

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 13, Page 8189-8201, October 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Zingiber officinale Roscoe is widely cultivated as a spice and functional food, generating substantial amounts of aerial biomass that is commonly discarded after harvest. Within a circular‐economy framework, this study investigated the phytotoxic potential of Z.

Using street view imagery and localized crowdsourcing survey to model perceived safety of the visual built environment by gender

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Earth Observations and Geoinformation
Scholars have documented that perceived safety of the visual built environment (VBE) can influence human behaviors. The dual developments of street view imagery (SVI) and deep learning techniques offer a cost-effective approach to measure perceived ...

Patterns of Colorectal Cancer Diagnosis in Older Adults: A SEER‐Medicare Analysis of Health and Economic Impact of Missed Screening Opportunities

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Oncology, Volume 134, Issue 5, Page 673-683, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To assess how diagnostic pathways affect clinical outcomes and healthcare costs among older adults diagnosed with colorectal cancer (CRC). Summary of Background Data Many CRC cases in the United State are diagnosed during an emergency presentation, which have been linked to worse outcomes.
