Animal models of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, Volume 9, Issue 5, Page 886-897, May 2026.
Current animal models of CTEPH. Created using BioRender.com. Abstract Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a rare, yet life‐threatening disorder characterized by persistent pulmonary vascular obstruction and elevated pulmonary artery pressure, with progressive remodeling and subsequent right heart failure.

Magnetocardiography combined with machine learning for pulmonary hypertension detection and improved short‐term risk assessment

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, Volume 4, Issue 3, May 2026.
Magnetocardiography (MCG) enables non‐invasive mapping of cardiac magnetic fields. In this study, an MCG‐based machine learning model detects pulmonary hypertension with robust performance. Furthermore, MCG features may improve the accuracy of short‐term risk assessment.

Myocardial oxygen consumption, myocardial efficiency, and mechanical efficiency: A review across pathologic and physiologic states

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, May 2026.
Abstract Myocardial work and oxygen consumption (MVO2) are tightly coupled. The patient's physiological state, presence of disease, heart rate, and microvascular control of oxygen delivery all combine to maintain this relationship. The myocardial efficiency (MyoEff) of the heart is determined by the ratio of stroke‐work (SW) divided by MVO2, whereas ...

Factores que influyen sobre la aparición de infecciones hospitalarias en los pacientes de cuidados intensivos Factors influencing hospital infection in patients in the intensive care unit

open access: yesGaceta Sanitaria, 2004
Objetivo: La acumulación de factores de riesgo en los pacientes atendidos en el hospital es uno de los elementos que condicionan el aumento de la infección nosocomial y su mayor frecuencia en las unidades de cuidados intensivos (UCI). Nuestro objetivo es
