A patient‐specific Fluid–structure Interaction (FSI) model of aortic stenosis was verified against in vitro experiments using a mock‐loop circulatory system with patient‐specific calcified and non‐calcified valve models under varying flow conditions. The in vitro experiments were replicated in the FSI model.

Bench-to-bedside review: The importance of the precision of the reference technique in method comparison studies - with specific reference to the measurement of cardiac output. [PDF]
Bland-Altman analysis is used for assessing agreement between two measurements of the same clinical variable. In the field of cardiac output monitoring, its results, in terms of bias and limits of agreement, are often difficult to interpret, leading ...

Pulmonary artery rupture during Swan-Ganz catheterisation: a case report. [PDF]
Catheter-induced pulmonary artery rupture is an infrequent complication that may occur during invasive cardiopulmonary monitoring. Fatal cases are uncommon and result from hemoptysis and flooding of the opposite lung with resulting hypoyxia.

ABSTRACT Right ventricular (RV) mechanical dyssynchrony represents a maladaptive response to increased afterload in pulmonary hypertension (PH). However, its hemodynamic and biochemical determinants remain unclear. This study aimed to identify the clinical, hemodynamic, and biochemical correlates of RV dyssynchrony in patients with pre‐capillary PH ...

A CASE OF PULMONARY ARTERY RUPTURE INDUCED BY SWAN-GANZ CATHETER [PDF]
An accidental rupture of the pulmonary artery is reported in a 72-year-old woman. On November 8, 1997, she was admitted for acute myocardial infarction. Marked ST segment elevation in Ⅰ, aVL, Ⅱ, aVF and V2 from V6 were evident by electrocardiogra- phy.

Pulmonary artery catheter placement under transoesophageal echocardiography guidance [PDF]
Despite correct positioning pulmonary artery catheters may be displaced accidentally. Repositioning may prove to be difficult, especially when high pulmonary artery pressures are present.

ABSTRACT Introduction Out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is associated with high mortality and substantial long‐term neurological sequelae among survivors. During postresuscitation intensive care after return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC), myocardial dysfunction, vasoplegia, and mixed shock states are often observed.

Percutaneous retrieval of centrally embolized fragments of central venous access devices or knotted Swan-Ganz catheters. Clinical report of 14 retrievals with detailed angiographic analysis and review of procedural aspects [PDF]
Introduction: Totally implantable venous access systems (TIVAS), Swan-Ganz (SG) and central venous catheters (CVC) allow easy and repetitive entry to the central cardiovascular system.
