Verification of a Fluid–Structure Interaction Model for Aortic Stenosis Through Comparison With In Vitro Experiments

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering, Volume 42, Issue 4, April 2026.
A patient‐specific Fluid–structure Interaction (FSI) model of aortic stenosis was verified against in vitro experiments using a mock‐loop circulatory system with patient‐specific calcified and non‐calcified valve models under varying flow conditions. The in vitro experiments were replicated in the FSI model.

Hemodynamic changes in lipid emulsion therapy (SMOFlipid) for bupivacaine toxicity in swines Alterações hemodinâmicas na terapia por emulsão lipídica (SMOFlipid) na intoxicação por bupivacaína em suínos

open access: yesActa Cirúrgica Brasileira, 2012
PURPOSE: To evaluate the hemodynamic changes following SMOFlipid emulsion therapy with after bupivacaine intoxication in swines. METHODS: Large White pigs were anesthetized with thiopental, tracheal intubation was performed and mechanical ventilation was

Harvest of Endothelial Cells from the Balloon Tips of Swan-Ganz Catheters after Right Heart Catheterization.

open access: yesJournal of Visualized Experiments, 2019
A variety of pathologies lead to pulmonary hypertension (PH), which is defined as a mean pulmonary artery pressure exceeding 25 mmHg at rest. To further diagnose and manage PH, patients undergo repeated right heart catheterizations (RHC) wherein a Swan ...

Advanced Hemodynamic Monitoring During Postresuscitation Care After Out‐of‐Hospital Cardiac Arrest: Protocol for a Scoping Review

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is associated with high mortality and substantial long‐term neurological sequelae among survivors. During postresuscitation intensive care after return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC), myocardial dysfunction, vasoplegia, and mixed shock states are often observed.

Acute myocardial infarction complicated by cardiogenic shock: an algorithm based ECMO program can improve clinical outcomes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Objective: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in our institution resulted in near total mortality prior to the establishment of an algorithm-based program in July 2010. We hypothesized that an algorithm based ECMO program improves the outcome of
