Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Toward Knowledge‐Based Workflows: A Semantic Approach to Atomistic Simulations for Mechanical and Thermodynamic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Knowledge‐based atomistic workflows are presented for mechanical and thermodynamic properties. By coupling modular simulations with ontology‐aligned metadata and provenance, Fe case studies on elastic behavior, defects, thermal properties, and Hall–Petch strengthening reveal how FAIR, queryable, and reusable simulation data can be generated. Mechanical

Swarm Artificial Intelligence Based Routing Mechanisms in Sensor Networks

open access: yes, 2022
Swarm Intelligence (SI) encompasses any system that is fragmented, tagged, activated, or fake. This concept is used to describe artificial intelligence. SI architecture is usually designed with a very broad style of key authority or nearby languages that

Influence of Geometric Design on Mechanical Performance of Auxetic Metastructure

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Strategic geometric reinforcement transforms auxetic performance. This study evaluates 3D‐printed arrowhead metastructures, revealing that a modified design with local ring reinforcement suppresses premature failure to achieve superior energy absorption and structural efficiency.

Cooperation of Nature and Physiologically Inspired Mechanism in Visualisation

open access: yes, 2012
A novel approach of integrating two swarm intelligence algorithms is considered, one simulating the behaviour of birds flocking (Particle Swarm Optimisation) and the other one (Stochastic Diffusion Search) mimics the recruitment behaviour of one species ...

A Dislocation Perspective on Strength and Toughness in Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Dislocations in ceramics enjoy a long but yet under‐appreciated history. The three research waves for dislocations in ceramics highlight the topic evolution over the last 90 years. This review focuses on the impact of dislocation on strength and toughness in ceramics.

Swarm potential fields with internal agent states and collective behaviour

open access: yes, 2007
Swarm robotics is a new and promising approach to the design and control of multi-agent robotic systems. In this paper we use a model for a system of self-propelled agents interacting via pairwise attractive and repulsive potentials.

Swarm Intelligence Based Protein Conformational Search Algorithm. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
There is no doubt of the role that proteins play in the biological processes inside the human body. Proteins can perform their function only when they fold into their tertiary structure.

Machine Learning‐Supported Analysis for Predicting and Visualizing Nonlinear Relationships Between Material Properties in Electroplated Chromium Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study applies machine learning regression to predict chromium layer thickness in decorative trivalent chromium electroplating, using 441 experiments from laboratory‐scale (1L) and pilot‐scale (14L) setups. Tree‐based models, particularly CatBoost, outperformed linear regression by capturing nonlinear parameter interactions (R2$R^2$ up to 0.77 ...
