This study presents a novel in situ laser‐induced breakdown spectroscopy system for monitoring metal vapors produced by the intense laser‐metal interactions in laser powder bed fusion additive manufacturing and laser welding. The insights from this new technique reveal changes in alloy compositions and provide the first in situ validation of multi ...

This work demonstrates ultra‐high ON‐OFF responsivity of AJP by mechanical switching valve assisted shuttering. The jet relaxation and ON‐OFF delay are substantially eliminated from greater than 35 s, maintaining patterning quality independent of the variations of printing parameters, permitting excellent process stability and universality.

The use of video imagery to analyse groundwater and shoreline dynamics on a dissipative beach [PDF]
Groundwater seepage is known to influence beach erosion and accretion processes. However, field measurements of the variation of the groundwater seepage line (GWSL) and the vertical elevation difference between the GWSL and the shoreline are limited.

Large beach cusps (LBC, wavelength of ~ 30 m) are intertidal features that can alternately exist in the swash and in the inner surf zone due to tidal sea level changes. They have a larger cross-shore extent (up to 50 m) than traditional cusps.

Effects of Coastal Groundwater Level on Beach Deformation [PDF]
In order to understand the characteristics of beach deformation, in this study, numerical simulations were conducted using a 3-D hydro-morphodynamic model (HYMO-WASS-3D) to analyze the characteristics of beach deformation due to the coastal groundwater ...
