Extreme wave transformation and runup on a beach fronted by a very steep forereef profile
Coral reefs offer natural coastal protection through the efficient dissipation of incident wave energy. Various studies have focused on wave transformation over coral reefs considering an idealised reef profile. However, less effort has been dedicated to

Morphological changes, beach inundation and overwash caused by an extreme storm on a low-lying embayed beach bounded by a dune system (NW Mediterranean) [PDF]
The geomorphological evolution of a low-lying, micro-tidal sandy beach in the western Mediterranean, Pals beach, was characterized using airborne Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data. Data were collected in prior to and six months after the impact of

New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Depth-Resolved Modelling of Intra-Swash Morphodynamics Induced by Solitary Waves
We present a fully coupled 2DV morphodynamic model, implemented in OpenFOAM® that is capable of simulating swash-zone morphodynamics of sandy beaches.

Triply‐twinned architected lattices transform deformation from bending to stretching of struts, delivering up to threefold increases in stiffness and strength across polymeric and metallic systems. High‐resolution synchrotron XCT and image‐based simulations reveal how meta‐grain architecture, defects, and AM build orientation govern failure pathways ...

Adopting multiview pixel mapping for enhancing quality of holoscopic 3D scene in parallax barriers based holoscopic 3D displays [PDF]
The Autostereoscopic multiview 3D Display is robustly developed and widely available in commercial markets. Excellent improvements are made using pixel mapping techniques and achieved an acceptable 3D resolution with balanced pixel aspect ratio in lens ...

A dual‐domain PSLC architecture enables direct comparison of alignment‐dependent laser damage within a single device. Crack‐like and seal‐like morphologies emerge under different damage conditions, and their evolution is interpreted through quantitative image analysis and heat‐driven simulations.

Numerical study of coastal wave profiles at the sandy beaches of Nowshahr (Southern Caspian Sea)
This study aimed to investigate the capability of the one-dimensional (1D) mode of the Simulating WAves till SHore (SWASH), as a non-hydrostatic wave-flow model with six vertical layers, to reproduce the cross-shore wave evolution.

Modeling swash zone sediment transport at Truc Vert Beach [PDF]
A one-dimensional hydrostatic version of the XBeach model (Roelvink et al., 2009) is applied to hindcast swash morphodynamics measured during an accretive, and an erosive tide at Le Truc Vert beach (France) in early spring 2008 (Masselink et. al, 2009; Blenkinsopp et al., 2011).
