Abstract This study analyzes laboratory data of beach response to sea‐level rise (SLR), isolating shoreline changes driven by passive flooding (PF) of the beach and consequent wave‐driven processes. The disequilibrium concept relates shoreline change to instantaneous and equilibrium beach states. While PF shifts the shoreline geometrically, SLR induces

STRAND: A Model for Longshore Sediment Transport in the Swash Zone [PDF]
In this paper we report on the development and performance of an engineering model, STRAND which has the aim of predicting longshore movement of coarse sediment above the still water line of steep beaches.

Anthropogenic Disturbance Threatens the Endangered Tufted Ghost Crab, Ocypode cursor
ABSTRACT The tufted ghost crab, Ocypode cursor, native to the southeastern Mediterranean and subtropical Atlantic Ocean, is a key bioindicator species, providing valuable insights into the health and stability of sandy beach ecosystems through its population dynamics, behaviour and interactions with the environment. Sandy shores along the Mediterranean

This work presents a new model for surf and swash zone morphology evolution induced by nonlinear waves. Wave transformation in the surf and swash zones is computed by a nonlinear wave model based on the higher order Boussinesq equations for breaking and ...

The morphodynamics of a swash event on an erodible beach [PDF]
A high-accuracy numerical solution, coupling one-dimensional shallow water and bed-evolution equations, with, for the first time, a suspended sediment advection equation, thereby including bed and/or suspended load, is used to examine two swash events on

The lacustrine Gördes Supradetachment Basin was developed along the Simav detachment fault during postorogenic extension in the north of the Menderes Massif in western Anatolia. The basin‐fill succession is represented by alluvial fan, Gilbert‐type delta, shoal‐water delta, foreshore, shoreface, offshore‐transition and peat‐forming mire deposits.

Nearshore Wave Transformation Domains from Video Imagery
Within the nearshore area, three wave transformation domains can be distinguished based on the wave properties: shoaling, surf, and swash zones.

Tectonics as a Regulator of Shoreline Retreat and Rocky Coast Evolution Across Timescales
Abstract Rocky coast morphology is shaped by interactions between wave action, sea level, and tectonics over millennial time scales. However, a clear and quantifiable signature of tectonic uplift on decadal to centennial shoreline retreat rates is outstanding.

Hydrodynamics and Sediment Transport Under Solitary Waves in the Swash Zone
Swash–swash interaction is a common natural phenomenon in the nearshore region, characterized by complex fluid motion. The characteristics of swash–swash interaction are crucial to sediment transport, subsequently affecting the beach morphology.
