The Permeability of the Sweat Gland to Nonelectrolytes
Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 1966SINCE the discovery of the sweat electrolyte abnormality in cystic fibrosis of the pancreas the attention of investigators has been directed mainly toward concentrations of electrolytes in sweat. Despite the growing interest in the physiological mechanisms involved in determining the final composition of sweat, there has been little emphasis on ...

Polymorphous sweat gland carcinoma
Histopathology, 1994We describe nine cases of a distinctive cutaneous neoplasm showing features of eccrine adnexal differentiation that were characterized by their variegated histological appearance and low‐grade malignant behaviour. The term polymorphous sweat gland carcinoma is proposed to designate these lesions.

Sweat gland carcinoma with metastases
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1960Sweat gland carcinomas with distant metastases have been infrequently recorded in the literature, the first case being reported by Hedinger 1 in 1911. Most of these tumors have originated in areas where the apocrine sweat glands are located. Primary tumors of the hand are also uncommon; of 750,827 patients seen at the Henry Ford Hospital and Clinics ...

Function of human eccrine sweat glands during dynamic exercise and passive heat stress.
Journal of applied physiology, 2001The purpose of this study was to identify the pattern of change in the density of activated sweat glands (ASG) and sweat output per gland (SGO) during dynamic constant-workload exercise and passive heat stress.

Carcinomata or epitheliomata of the sweat glands are very rare, and their precise nature is still a matter of debate, no more than a dozen cases having been observed in the hand. Simard (1938), Stout and Cooley (1951) and Levitt et al. (1972) have reported solitary cases.

Measurement of Sweating and Sweat Gland Function
1989Investigations of the sweat response are usually made for one or more of three purposes. First, for the evaporative component of human thermoregulation and water and electrolyte balance in hot ambient conditions; second, in diagnostic and clinical investigations (including galvanic skin response); third, for fundamental investigations of the physiology
