The Effect of Mixing Promotors on Sweeping Gas Membrane Distillation System Performance
Abstract Computational fluid dynamics simulations were conducted to model the effect of adding mixing promoters in sweeping gas membrane distillation modules. Net-type spacers of 45° are placed in the feed side while membrane corrugation is employed with the tips of the corrugation pointing towards the permeate side.

Abstract Vapor transport through membranes is very important in many industrial processes such as membrane distillation (MD), membrane condensation and flue gas dehydration. In this study, we explore the condensation, re-evaporation and associated heat transfer in membrane evaporation and sweeping gas membrane distillation (SGMD) at low gas flow ...

Ammonia removal by sweep gas membrane distillation
Water Research, 2009Wastewater containing low levels of ammonia (100 mg/L) has been simulated in experiments with sweep gas membrane distillation at pH 11.5. The effects of feed temperature, gas flow rate and feed flow rate on ammonia removal, permeate flux and selectivity were investigated.

The Experimental Study on a Sweeping Gas Membrane Distillation Unit
2023This document examines the experimental application of the gas scavenging membrane distillation (SGMD) process and its advantages and disadvantages. SGMD is the least used configuration in membrane distillation (MD), and it is more expensive to build.

Comparison of Sweeping Gas and Direct Contact Membrane Distillation \u2013 Module Length Effect
ASME 2020 Heat Transfer Summer Conference, 2020Abstract Computational fluid dynamics simulations are conducted to compare the effect of module length in sweeping gas and direct contact membrane distillation systems for seawater desalination processes. In this work, the effect of temperature and concentration on the flux performance and temperature and concentration polarization ...
