Influence of UHMWPE on the expansion characteristics of expansive soil: Experimental studies.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
This paper investigates the effectiveness of using Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) Fiber to improve expansive soil. The test results indicate that the amount and length of UHMWPE significantly affect the swelling pressure and free ...

Titanium Suboxides Responsible for Electronic Anomaly Near Room Temperature in the Ti3C2Tx MXene

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Our multi‐technique study reveals that the near‐room‐temperature anomaly in Ti3C2Tx MXene is linked to titanium suboxide nanodomains, including Ti3O5, embedded within the MXene host. Their temperature‐driven transformation provides an alternative explanation to solvent‐ and swelling‐based models and offers new insight into the thermally activated ...

Swelling properties of acrylamide-N,N’-methylene bis(acrylamide) hydrogels synthesized by using meso-2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid-cerium(IV) redox couple

open access: yeseXPRESS Polymer Letters, 2009
In this paper, meso-2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid-Ce(IV) redox couple is used for crosslinking polymerization of acrylamide (AAm) with N,N′-methylene bis(acrylamide) (MBAA) in acid aqueous medium. We have investigated the effects of crosslinker ratio,

STUDY OF SWELLING BEHAVIOR AND DETERMINATION OF SWELLING PARAMETERS OF SPHERICAL HYDROGELS IN WATER [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Spherical Hydrogels are having the tendency to absorb the large amount of water. This results in swelling of the hydrogels that leads to the increase in mass and volume of hydrogels.

Dipole‐Engineered Conductive Additives for Ultrastable Interphase Evolution in High‐Areal‐Capacity Silicon Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In the work reported herein, dipole‐engineered sulfonated carbon nanofibers enable conductive additives to actively regulate interphase formation in silicon anodes. Polar sulfonyl groups guide electrolyte decomposition to form a compact LiF‐rich interphase while promoting robust integration with silicon.

Swelling characteristics of Gaomiaozi bentonite and its prediction

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, 2014
Gaomiaozi (GMZ) bentonite has been chosen as a possible matrix material of buffers/backfills in the deep geological disposal to isolate the high-level radioactive waste (HLRW) in China. In the Gaomiaozi deposit area, calcium bentonite in the near surface

Pull‐and‐Push Nanotherapeutic Hydrogels: Scavenging Inflammatory Triggers While Driving Tissue Regeneration in Burn Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A nanounit‐assembled hydrogel employing a “pull‐and‐push” strategy simultaneously scavenges pro‐inflammatory cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and delivers regenerative therapeutics in response to burn‐induced hyperthermia. By repolarizing macrophages and promoting angiogenesis, this multifunctional platform accelerates burn wound healing, offering a blueprint for
