PREDICTING THICKNESS SWELLING OF HOT PRESSED WOOD STRANDS
Strand board can be manufactured from sawmill residues, branches, and crown wood left in the forest. The thickness swelling of these residues is quite different from that of mature wood and can have a negative effect on the physical and strength ...

Physical indicators of cartilage health: the relevance of compliance, thickness, swelling and fibrillar texture [PDF]
AbstractThis study uses a bovine patella model to compare the relative merits of on‐bone compliance and thickness measurements, free‐swelling behaviour, and structural imaging with differential interference contrast (DIC) light microscopy to assess the biomechanical normality of the cartilage matrix.

Effects of specimen thickness on apparent swelling pressure evolution of compacted bentonite
With the interests to see specimen thickness (hsp) effect on apparent swelling pressure (ps) of compacted bentonite and capture characteristics of ps development during wetting bentonite specimens (ps evolution, hereafter), a series of tests to measure ps of compacted bentonite specimens with a dry density (ρd) range of 0.99–1.76 Mg/m3 and a specimen ...
