The Gut–Heart Axis in Systemic Sclerosis: Evidence From a Large Prospective Early Disease Cohort

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Cardiac involvement significantly impacts prognosis in systemic sclerosis (SSc), highlighting the need for early risk stratification. Gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms are common and often manifest early. Emerging data suggest a link between GI and cardiac manifestations, possibly through shared mechanisms like dysautonomia.

Real‐World Safety and Effectiveness of JAK Inhibitors in Systemic Sclerosis: A Propensity‐Matched Study From the EUSTAR Cohort

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective JAK inhibitors (JAKi) have shown promising effects in early‐phase studies of systemic sclerosis (SSc). We aimed to assess the safety and explore the effectiveness of JAKi compared to conventional immunosuppressants in SSc. Methods A longitudinal retrospective study of the European Scleroderma Trials and Research Group (EUSTAR) cohort was ...

Synthesis and Characterization of Hydrogel of Chitosan-Poly (N-Vinyl-2-Pirrolidone) (PVP)- Alginate for Ibuprofen Release [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Chemistry Research, 2020
Hydrogels chitosan-poly-(N-vinyl-pyrrolidone)-alginate (Ch/PVP/Alg) have been synthesized with Ca2+, Zn2+ and formaldehyde as crosslinker. Hydrogels with ratio polymer 70:20:10 give a high swelling ratio and good network.

Clinician and patient factors associated with long‐term glucocorticoid use in people with rheumatoid arthritis on advanced therapies

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Background Despite guideline recommendations, long‐term glucocorticoid (GC) use is common in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We conducted a clinician survey nested within a large registry to identify patient and clinician factors associated with GC use. Methods Clinicians contributing patients to the CorEvitas Rheumatoid Arthritis registry were surveyed ...

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

Preformed particle gel: evaluation and optimization of salinity and pH on equilibrium swelling ratio

open access: yes, 2012
In this study, preformed particle gel was prepared from a hydrogel crosslinking of an aqueous solution containing chromium acetate (III) and the co-polymer of 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-propanesulfonic-acid sodium salt (AMPS) and acrylamide (PAMPS).
