Repellent and Anti-quorum Sensing Activity of Six Aromatic Plants Occurring in Colombia

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2015
Essential oils (EOs) are widely used as biopesticides and to control bacterial infections. This study describes the ability of six EOs isolated from plants cultivated in Colombia to perform as repellents against Ulomoides dermestoides and as quorum ...

Pest categorisation of Scirtothrips citri

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2018., 2018
Abstract The Panel on Plant Health performed a pest categorisation of the citrus thrips, Scirtothrips citri (Moulton) (Thysanoptera: Thripidae), for the European Union (EU). This is a well‐defined and distinguishable species, occurring in North America and Asia. Its precise distribution in Asia is uncertain. S. citri is a pest of citrus and blueberries

Pest categorisation of Citrus tristeza virus (non‐European isolates)

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2017., 2017
Abstract The Panel on Plant Health performed a pest categorisation of non‐European isolates of Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) for the EU territory. CTV is a well characterised virus for which efficient detection assays are available. It is transmitted by vegetative multiplication of infected hosts and by aphid vectors.

The Potential of Secondary Metabolites in Medicinal Plants as Anti–Quorum Sensing in Biofilms: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
The formation of biofilms occurs due to a group of bacteria gathering together. The increasing of cell density will stimulate chemical signals for bacteria to communicate through quorum sensing system. Quorum sensing plays a role for competition, virulence, resistance, and pathogenesis. Quorum sensing produces signaling response called as autoinducers.
