An experimental investigation of the character and decay of the asymmetrical swirling flow produced by a double right-angle bend in two perpendicular planes has been carried out. Axial velocities have been measured at a total of 36 points on three parallel chords on each of two measurement stations that were 9 diameters and 35 diameters downstream of ...

Journal of Turbomachinery, 1988
The results of extensive laser measurements carried out in the blade passages of a newly designed backswept impeller are presented and discussed. Noticeable distortions of the throughflow patterns and a distinct swirling flow character were found inside the rotor.

Swirled flows and their generalizations
Journal of Applied Mechanics and Technical Physics, 2012New swirled flows (flows in channels, flows around bodies of revolution, and flows with a sink or source on the axis of symmetry) are studied. Group solutions constructed from a supergroup, which are generalizations of conical flows, are considered.

A mathematical model has been developed to study incompressible, isothermal, turbulent, confined, swirling flows. The model solves the conservation equations of mass, momentum, and two additional equations for the turbulent kinetic energy and the rate of dissipation of turbulent kinetic energy. The numerical predictions show a recirculation zone in the

Transonic swirling flow in axisymmetric nozzles
Meccanica, 1976The transonic flow in axisymmetric choked nozzles is computed in the case of a radial distribution of tangential velocity. The flow configuration is obtained by means of a time-dependent technique. The swirling flow is achieved through a particular surface located at the inlet of the nozzle.
