The Research On The Performance Of Oil-gas Cyclone Separators In Oil Injected Compressor Systems With Considering The Collision And Breakup Of Oil Droplets

open access: yes, 2012
The high-speed swirling flow field in the cyclone oil-gas separator will cause the breakup of oil droplets, thus reducing the separation efficiency. In this paper, the performance of an oil-gas cyclone separator was investigated through both numerical ...

Numerical Simulations of Magneto-Convection: From Stellar Dynamos to Small-Scale Swirling Motions

open access: yes, 2023
Modern astrophysics relies heavily on numerical simulations to interpret observational data, test theoretical models, understand complex physical processes, and make predictions about future events. Solar and stellar physics are no exception. This thesis

Insights From the Alphasat Aldo Paraboni Experiment at Tito Scalo and Spino d'Adda: Characterizing Scintillation and Rain Attenuation at Ka‐ and Q‐Band Frequencies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We present experimental results on the relationship between rain attenuation and simultaneous scintillation during rain events, based on beacon signal measurements at 19.7 (Ka‐band) and 39.4 GHz (Q‐band) from the geosynchronous Alphasat satellite (25° E), received at two Italian ground stations, Spino d'Adda (42.1° slant path) and Tito Scalo ...

Influence of large-scale motions on the frictional drag in a turbulent boundary layer

open access: yes, 2017
Direct numerical simulation data of a turbulent boundary layer ($Re_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D70F}}=1000$) were used to investigate the large-scale influences on the vortical structures that contribute to the local skin friction.

125 years of exploration and research at Gough's Cave (Somerset, UK) 125 ans d'exploration et de recherches à Gough's Cave (Somerset, Royaume‐Uni)

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
Our understanding of the recolonization of northwest Europe in the period leading up to the Lateglacial Interstadial relies heavily on discoveries from Gough's Cave (Somerset, UK). Gough's Cave is the richest Late Upper Palaeolithic site in the British Isles, yielding an exceptional array of human remains, stone and organic artefacts, and butchered ...

Introduction: Towards a linguistic anthropology of AI Introduction : vers une anthropologie linguistique de l'IA

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
This essay introduces the themed cluster of articles, ‘Towards a linguistic anthropology of AI’. The advent of artificial intelligence (AI), especially in large language models capable of producing coherent discourse mimicking conversational interaction, is exerting unprecedented pressure on prevailing concepts of language, personhood, and the human ...

Formation and Eruption of a Hot Channel Magnetic Flux Rope in a Nested Double Null Magnetic System

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
The coronal magnetic topology significantly affects the outcome of magnetic flux rope (MFR) eruptions. The recently reported nested double null magnetic system remains unclear as to how it affects MFR eruptions.

Numerical Simulation of Air Motion in the Swirl Chamber of a Diesel Engine : Effect of Connecting Port in Air Motion

open access: yesJSME international journal. Ser. 2, Fluids engineering, heat transfer, power, combustion, thermophysical properties, 1990
Numerical simulation was carried out to clarify three-dimensional air motion in the swirl chamber of a diesel engine. Simulations have been performed spherical swirl chambers with different sorts of connecting ports. The results obtained are as follows. (1)Toward the end of the compression stroke, the swirling flow becomes strong.

‘Enthusiasts’ and ‘Fanatics’: The Decembrists as a Case Study in French Influence on Russian Culture, Emotions and Thought

open access: yesHistory, EarlyView.
Abstract Participants in Russia's 1825 Decembrist uprising against the Tsarist regime were, quite literally, a case study in French cultural influence upon Russia. This is particularly true as it relates to Russia's emotional cultures. Although this has not, traditionally, been the primary focus of historical analysis of this event (in Soviet or ...
