Adaptive Spaces and Rural Futures: Climate Change, Agrarian Dynamics, and Knowledge Politics in Southeast Asian Socioecological Transformations

open access: yesAsia Pacific Viewpoint, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Contemporary rural change in Southeast Asia is shaped by complex, intersecting forces that defy simplistic narratives. Researchers must therefore develop new ways to grasp nuanced, non‐linear, and locally specific processes to understand how transformational shifts may occur (or not) in the region.

Style Brush: Guided Style Transfer for 3D Objects

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We introduce Style Brush, a guided 3D style‐transfer method for textured meshes that provides precise creative control. It supports the use of multiple style images, smooth transitions and intuitive guidance, producing visually appealing textures that follow user intent as we demonstrate in our user study and results. Abstract We introduce Style Brush,

Annular swirling liquid layer with a hollow core

open access: yes, 2018
A thick turbulent annular liquid layer that swirls inside a fixed pipe is studied by means of surface observations and stereoscopic particle image velocimetry in an index-matched nozzle facility.

Story2Board: A Training‐Free Approach for Expressive Visual Storytelling

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We present Story2Board, a training‐free framework for expressive storyboard generation from natural language. Existing methods narrowly focus on subject identity, overlooking key aspects of visual storytelling such as spatial composition, background evolution, and narrative pacing.

Air Motion and Combustion in a Swirl Chamber Type Diesel Engine

open access: yesTransactions of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, 1967
According to the previous investigation on a swirl chamber type diesel engine, an earlier outflow of the fuel into the cylinder brings about favorable combustion. However, there appears a flameless region in the midst of the swirl chamber when the injection nozzle is so directed as to ensure the outflow action.

Parallel Vectors Extraction using Bézier Clipping

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract In this paper, we propose a novel local feature extraction algorithm for the parallel vectors (PV) operator. Our method is based on Bézier clipping, which is a bracketing‐based root finding method that is commonly‐used in computer‐aided geometric design.

Ecologization Is Not a Metaphor: Museums in the Web of Life

open access: yesCurator: The Museum Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article documents and critiques emerging accounts of museum “ecologization”. Drawing on political ecology, materialist theory, and contemporary museum practice, we challenge dominant frameworks of ecological modernization and advocate for a more critical understanding of museums in the web of life.

The Holder continuity of the swirl for the Navier-Stokes motions

open access: yes, 2012
Applying the DeGiorgi Method the Holder continuity of the swirl is proved for solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations from Lq(0,T;Lp) with 3/p+2/q < 1.

Self‐help and Volunteerism in Tanzania in the 1960s: Voluntary Labour, Nation Building and Constructing Modernity

open access: yesDevelopment and Change, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The United Nations has declared 2026 the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development. Against that backdrop, this article examines the experience of volunteerism, and specifically self‐help voluntary labour in Tanzania in the early colonial period, to explore the place of volunteerism in the construction of the post‐colonial ...

Numerical Solvability of a Cosserat Model for the Swirling Motion of a Third-grade Fluid in a Constant Radius Straight Circular Tube

open access: yes, 2018
In this work we consider a thermodynamically compatible three-dimensional third-grade fluid model. With the aim of modelling swirling flow motions, we consider a velocity field approximation provided by the Cosserat theory, where we introduce specific ...
