A novel linear switch reluctance generator system

2012 IEEE International Conference on Automation and Logistics, 2012
A novel linear generator system prototype has been developed to harness tidal and wave energy. The point absorber is designed to extract energy from ocean waves. The main circuit of power converter and control system based on DSP are designed. The experimental study has been carried out on the three-phase 6/4 structure linear switched reluctance ...

Switched reluctance generators and their control

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2002
This paper discusses how the switched reluctance generator (SRG) converts energy as directed by a controller. Beginning with a review of the electromechanics of generation, the paper identifies the implications of the energy conversion process on how the SRG is controlled.

Generator Operation of a Switched Reluctance Starter/generator at Extended Speeds

2005 IEEE Vehicle Power and Propulsion Conference, 2005
Switched reluctance (SR) drive systems are a candidate technology for electric vehicle applications, particularly where a high degree of component integration is required within a thermally demanding environment-typical of engine mounted power assist solutions.

Fault analysis and excitation requirements for switched reluctance generators

IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference. IEMDC'99. Proceedings (Cat. No.99EX272), 2002
Switched reluctance machines are a prime candidate for aerospace starter/generators and various automotive applications. The choice of SRM for a starter/generator application is driven largely by the perceived reliability and fault tolerance of the machine and its electronics.

A digital control for switched reluctance generators

2011 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics, 2011
This paper presents a novel digital control technique for switched reluctance generators (SRGs). Voltage feedback control is used in the proposed approach. This control strategy can be implemented easily with both PWM and hysteresis switching schemes. The SRG is modeled in order to find the proper control parameters.

A switched reluctance variable speed generator

CCECE 2003 - Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering. Toward a Caring and Humane Technology (Cat. No.03CH37436), 2004
The paper presents the switched reluctance variable speed generator system. The structure of the switched reluctance generator, the rotor position detector, the exciting power converter and the controller are given. The mathematical models of the system are also given. Two control strategies of the constant-power output control with the constant output

Generating with the switched reluctance motor

Proceedings of 1994 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition - ASPEC'94, 2002
The switched reluctance motor (SRM) is being developed for aircraft engine starter/generator applications. In these applications the SRM operates as a generator as well as a motor. This development is taking place because the SRM is unique in its operation as a generator compared to other machine types in that it does not employ permanent magnets or a ...
