Force Analysis and Torque Production of the Doubly Salient Parallel Path Magnetic Machine

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper presents an in‐depth mathematical analysis of torque and force production mechanisms in the Doubly Salient Parallel Path Magnetic Motor (DS‐PPMM). Electromagnetic force distribution, torque ripple characteristics and the contributions of magnetic salience are analysed through analytical modelling and verified by finite element analysis.

Genetic Algorithm-Based Commutation Angle Control for Torque Ripple Mitigation in Switched Reluctance Motor Drives

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
This work addresses the application of the Genetic Algorithm (GA) technique to optimize the commutation angles of a 2 kW 8/6 switched reluctance machine (SRM). The primary goal is to reduce the well-known drawback of SRMs: the torque ripple. Firstly, the

Radial Force Density Calculation of Switched Reluctance Machines Using Reluctance Mesh-Based Magnetic Equivalent Circuit

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Industrial Electronics Society, 2022
Acoustic noise and vibration is one of the shortcomings of a switched reluctance machine (SRM). Harmonics of the radial force waveform in the airgap excite the stator structure at different vibration modes with specific frequencies.

In-wheel axial-flux SRM drive for light electric vehicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Revenues from global sales of light electric vehicles are expected to grow from $ 9.3 billion in 2017 to $ 23.9 billion in 2025. In order to boost this growth electric drives with better features and lower costs have to be developed.

A New Flux Reversal Motor With Slot and Tooth Permanent Magnets

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This article proposes a new consequent‐pole (CP) flux reversal permanent magnet (FRPM) motor. The motor is compared with other benchmark motors. The motor is simulated and prototyped. ABSTRACT This article proposes a new consequent‐pole (CP) flux reversal permanent magnet (FRPM) motor with homopolar PMs parked in the stator slot openings and between ...
