A Novel 3-D Flux Structure for Switched Reluctance Machines

open access: yes, 2023
Switched Reluctance Machines (SRMs) receive considerable attention from industry and academia over the past few decades. SRMs are generally inexpensive, reliable, and mechanically robust when compared to other types of electrical machines.

Mutual fund director compensation

open access: yesJournal of Financial Research, EarlyView.
Abstract We examine director compensation using a large sample of hand‐compiled U.S. mutual fund data. We find that director compensation is positively correlated with observable productive characteristics—workload, experience, and demographics—that capture the benefits from the directors’ monitoring effort.

Optimization-Based Flux Linkage Control for Torque Ripple Reduction in Switched Reluctance Machines

open access: yesIEEE Access
This work presents an optimization-based control strategy for reducing torque ripple in switched reluctance motors (SRMs), which are often affected by high ripple and acoustic noise. The proposed approach consists of two stages.

The Effects of Regulatory Office Closures on Bank Behavior

open access: yesJournal of Money, Credit and Banking, EarlyView.
Abstract We investigate if the decentralized structure of regulatory office networks influences supervisory outcomes and bank behavior. Following the closure of an office, banks previously supervised by that office increase their lending and risk‐taking.

An efficient design optimization framework for nonlinear switched reluctance machines

open access: yes, 2017
A new computationally efficient paradigm for the design and analysis of switched reluctance machines is proposed. At the heart of the rapid analysis and design methodology is the reduced order computational method based on a flux tube model which has ...

Detecting Informed Trading Risk from Undercutting Activity

open access: yesThe Journal of Finance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We introduce a simple measure of informed trading risk, QIDres$QID^{res}$, the residual to liquidity quote‐improvement‐to‐deterioration ratio times −1$-1$. When facing with increased informed trading risk, liquidity providers compete less to provide liquidity, reducing their undercutting activity. Reductions in undercutting leave footprints in

Optimal advance angle for torque maximisation in high-speed, single-pulse operated, switched reluctance machines

open access: yes, 2019
It is well reported that Switched Reluctance Machines typically operate in ‘single-pulse mode’ when rotating at high speed. For such operating mode, the control parameters are the duration of the energizing period along with the advance of the turn-on ...

Performing Micro‐Role Transitions in Open Strategy

open access: yesJournal of Management Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract Open strategy (OS) requires contributors with a variety of functional backgrounds to episodically perform a strategy role in addition to their functional responsibilities. These actors engage in micro‐role transitions as they temporarily shift from one role to another.

The Inclusionary Effects of Performing Work: A Practice‐Theoretical Study of Airport Security Work

open access: yesJournal of Management Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract In contrast to inclusion research that often treats work as a neutral, passive background, this study theorizes the active role of work in producing an inclusive organization. We adopt a practice‐theoretical approach that examines the accomplishment of work activities through their discourses, embodiment, and material arrangements, critically ...

The Support Paradox: Explaining (Mis)Matches in Refugee Workplace Support

open access: yesJournal of Management Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract Recent refugee movements have spurred corporate initiatives, with workplace support proving critical for integration. However, while research on workplace support for refugees remains limited, the broader support literature highlights paradoxical effects – support either benefits or harms recipients depending on how well it matches their needs.
