A Novel Multilayer Switched Reluctance Motor

IEEE Power Engineering Review, 2002
The switched reluctance motor is a simple and robust machine, which has found application over wide power and speed ranges in different shapes and geometries. This paper introduces a new configuration for a high starting torque switched reluctance motor (SRM).

Hybrid type novel switched reluctance motor

PESC 98 Record. 29th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference (Cat. No.98CH36196), 2002
A new hybrid type of switched reluctance motor (SRM) and its control method are proposed in this paper. The new type of SRM consists of the usual salient pole type or a cylindrical type stator and one rotor in which two permanent magnets are installed symmetrically between the iron poles of the rotor.

Switched reluctance motors

Proceedings:Electrical Electronics Insulation Conference and Electrical Manufacturing & Coil Winding Conference, 2002
Motor design engineers have long been searching for a solution to their drive application problems which is low cost, reliable, versatile in application, fault tolerant and quiet. The motor design which was most likely to achieve that coveted position for several years was the switched reluctance motor (SRM).

Switched reluctance motor performance prediction

1997 IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference Record, 2002
Much of the recent literature concerning the switched reluctance motor (SRM) is focused on motor performance prediction. In this paper, a mathematical model of an SRM is developed and its steady-state characteristics are computed. The given results, obtained by computer simulation, are shown to verify the proposed model.

Switched reluctance motor control techniques

Proceedings of the 1997 American Control Conference (Cat. No.97CH36041), 1997
This paper provides a basic tutorial on SRMs, how they are controlled, and potential applications. A review of the equations governing the operation of the SRM is given and the operation of the SRM is described. Current control, commutation algorithms, and techniques for reducing torque ripple and linearizing the SRM torque response are discussed ...

Mathematical Model Switched Reluctance Motor

Key Engineering Materials, 2015
This paper describes a mathematical model of switched reluctance motor (SRM). The mathematical model of the SR motor is nonparametric and can only be established with experimental data, instead of an analytical representation. Because the reluctance varies with rotor position and magnetic saturation is part of the normal operation of SR motors, there ...

Switched-reluctance motor drives

Electronics and Power, 1983
It is now 150 years since Wheatstone demonstrated the first reluctance motor. This article outlines the recent significant advances in switched-reluctance motor drives which now make them serious contenders not only to inverter-fed machines but also to the established DC-motor ...

Variable-speed switched reluctance motors

IEE Proceedings B Electric Power Applications, 1980
The paper explores the theory and potential of a family of doubly salient electronically-switched reluctance motors. It is demonstrated that the machine provides the basis for fully-controllable variable-speed systems, which are shown to be superior to conventional systems in many respects.

Mathematical simulation switched reluctance motor

2016 International Conference on Actual Problems of Electron Devices Engineering (APEDE), 2016
A mathematical model is developed to calculate the electromagnetic field in the cross section of the SRM. To implement the mathematical model was used the software package ELCUT-5.1. Two-dimensional boundary-value problem relative to the magnetic vector potential was solved by the finite element method and Newton-Raphson.

Design and analysis of switched reluctance motors

2013 8th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ELECO), 2013
In this paper, the design and analysis of switched reluctance motors (SRM) are studied. SRMs gained more importance in recent years due to simple structural properties. Finite element method (FEM) is used for the analysis of SRM and the motor characteristics are investigated with simulation results.
