The Stress Patterns of English Verbs: Syllable Weight and Morphology

This chapter presents a detailed dictionary-based analysis of primary stress placement in 3548 verbs in British English. The distribution of stress patterns in the dataset is presented for different morphological categories (suffixed, prefixed, compounds, simplex).

Weight effects and the parametrization of the foot: English versus Portuguese
