Journal of Applied Ecology, Volume 59, Issue 7, Page 1792-1803, July 2022., 2022 Many boreal forests of eastern Canada progress towards an irregular structure in the decades following the last stand‐replacing fire. A substantial part of these early‐successional forests may be suitable for alternatives to even‐aged silviculture that better maintains habitats and functions of preindustrial boreal forests.
