Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Translation as Adaptation for Language Pedagogy
This paper explores, within an ecological perspective on language learning (cf. van Lier 2004), the valuable role that translation as adaptation can play in mediating and making sense of cross-cultural experiences in the multilingual language classroom ...

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Abridged Symbolic Representation of Time Series for Clustering
In recent years a couple of methods aimed at time series symbolic representation have been introduced or developed. This activity is mainly justified by practical considerations such memory savings or fast data base searching.

On Symbolic Ultrametrics, Cotree Representations, and Cograph Edge Decompositions and Partitions
Symbolic ultrametrics define edge-colored complete graphs K_n and yield a simple tree representation of K_n. We discuss, under which conditions this idea can be generalized to find a symbolic ultrametric that, in addition, distinguishes between edges and

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Conformant Planning via Symbolic Model Checking
We tackle the problem of planning in nondeterministic domains, by presenting a new approach to conformant planning. Conformant planning is the problem of finding a sequence of actions that is guaranteed to achieve the goal despite the nondeterminism of ...

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

The impact of musical training in symbolic and non-symbolic audiovisual judgements of magnitude.
Quantity estimation can be represented in either an analog or symbolic manner and recent evidence now suggests that analog and symbolic representation of quantities interact.
