Topological Point Defects in SmC* Liquid Crystals Under Mechanical Disturbance
Tangetial air jet shear inducess island formation and nucleates topological point defects in uniform SmC films. Island bounded by edge dislocation loops shrink and transform into isolated point defects under continued shear. Mechanical perturbatio provides a controllable route for defect engineering in smectric liquid crystal thin films.

Pattern Formation in Non‐Equilibrium Architected Materials
This article demonstrates an artificial mechanical system ‐ a robotic metamaterial ‐ as an accessible and versatile platform within which to explore and prescribe the reaction‐diffusion driven pattern formation hitherto associated with comparatively less accessible and versatile non‐equilibrium biological and chemical systems.

Symmetric Encryption – An Introduction
Many people place their trust in information provided by third parties when it comes to encryption. It's more common to take the apparent ins and outs at face value than to actually personally know them. It seems sensible to periodically process certain basic information. If in doubt, consult competent experts.

Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...
