This paper is a sequel to an earlier paper dealing with a symmetric function generalization XG of the chromatic polynomial of a finite graph G. We consider the question of when the expansion of XG in terms of Schur functions has nonnegative coefficients ...

The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

Combinatorial aspects of generalizations of Schur functions
The understanding of the space of symmetric functions is gained through the study of its bases. Certain bases can be dened by purely combinatorial methods, sometimes enabling important properties of the functions to fall from carefully constructed ...

A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

Generalized Schur functions and generalized decomposable symmetric tensors
The author investigates the properties of generalized Schur functions and conditions for two generalized decomposable symmetric tensors to be equal. The analogue of replacing generalized Schur functions by generalized trace functions is also considered.

Bandlimited functions, curved manifolds, and self-adjoint extensions of symmetric operators [PDF]
Sampling theory is an active field of research that spans a variety of disciplines from communication engineering to pure mathematics. Sampling theory provides the crucial connection between continuous and discrete representations of information that ...

Soft Mechanical‐Electrical Logic Using Liquid Metal‐Filled 3D‐Printed Architectures
We present 3D‐printed soft mechanical–electrical logic elements that use liquid metal–filled silicone tubes actuated by thermoplastic polyurethane/polylactic acid (TPU/PLA) architectures to produce Boolean operations. Complementary normally open and normally closed unit cells perform repeatable binary transitions and can be combined into more complex ...

Testing for Bivariate Spherical Symmetry
An omnibus test for spherical symmetry in R2 is proposed, employing localized empirical likelihood. The thus obtained test statistic is distri- bution-free under the null hypothesis. The asymptotic null distribution is established and critical values for
