Architecture‐Driven Functional Coupling in Vertically Aligned Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Vertically aligned nanocomposites define a growth‐engineered architecture in which vertical interfaces, strain fields, defect pathways, and phase connectivity are created simultaneously. This review shows how these architectural features couple ferroic, optical, ionic, electrochemical, and device responses, establishing design rules and open challenges

4-tert-Butylpyridinium triiodide–4-tert-butylpyridine (1/1)

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2011
The title compound, C9H14N+·I3−·C9H13N, consists of monoprotonated 4-tert-butylpyridinium cations and triiodide anions. The triiodide ion has near-symmetric linear geometry, with bond lengths of 2.9105 (4) &

Hydrogen bond symmetrization in high-pressure ice clathrates

open access: yesPhysical Review B
Hydrogen bond symmetrization is a fundamental pressure-induced transformation in which the distinction between donor and acceptor sites vanishes, resulting in a symmetric hydrogen-bond network. While extensively studied in pure ice, most notably during the ice VII to ice X transition, this phenomenon remains less well characterized in hydrogen hydrates.

Decoupling the Size and Loading Effects in Silver Nanoparticles for Efficient Paired Carbon Dioxide and Formaldehyde Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We investigate size‐dependent CO selectivity on Ag nanoparticles, where optimized Ag loading achieves nearly 100% Faradaic Efficiency for CO at −100 mA·cm−2. In situ SERS and XPS reveal the crucial role of optimized loading in catalytic performance. The Ag/C catalyst further exhibits bifunctional activity, enabling efficient electrolysis of CO2 and ...

Structure and disorder in ice VII on the approach to hydrogen-bond symmetrization

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2019
We have collected neutron-diffraction data of sufficient quality for structural refinement from deuterated ice VII to over 60 GPa. At these pressures, we are approaching the onset of molecular dissociation where the water molecule should be significantly distorted.

Stereometric Molecular Engineering for Ultra‐Stable Aqueous Zinc‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Stereochemical configuration of molecular additives greatly influences interfacial adsorption at the Zn surface. The optimal tilted dual‐anchored adsorption geometry of myo‐inositol constructs a water‐deficient interface and regulates the solvation structure.

Tris(cis-2-hydroxycyclohexane-1,3,5-triaminium) hydrogen sulfate octachloride dihydrate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2012
The 2-hydroxycyclohexane-1,3,5-triaminium (= H3L3+) cation of the title compound, 3C6H18N3O3+·8Cl−·HSO4−·2H2O, exhibits a cyclohexane chair with three equatorial ammonium groups and one axial hydroxy group ...

Covalent Functionalization of 2D Semiconductors: A Roadmap to Advanced Electronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Review presents recent advances in the covalent functionalization strategies for two‐dimensional semiconductors and their implementation in modern technologies. Layered materials are modified through diverse molecular chemistries (e.g., thiols, diazonium salts, alkyl halides, and electron‐deficient species) to tailor their surface properties ...

Photoinduced Charge Separation in Single‐Component Squaraine Films: The Key Role of Electrostatic Disorder

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Neat films of organic dyes are an interesting technological platform for solar cells and photodetectors. Recently, the conventional biphasic bulk‐heterojunction paradigm for photoinduced charge separation was challenged by the observation that charge carriers can be photogenerated in single‐component materials. A comprehensive experimental and
