Emerging Nanotechnology Strategies for Obesity Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Three types of nanomaterials used for obesity treatment are highlighted, including inorganic nanomaterials, organic nanomaterials and biomimetic nanomaterials. A detailed and comprehensive introduction to the recent nanotechnology strategies for obesity management is also provided, including drug delivery, photodynamic therapy, hyperthermia, gas ...

Bidirectional Interaction Between the Brain and Bone in Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) disrupts the blood–brain barrier and activates neuroimmune responses, causing metabolic disturbances and long‐term bone mass loss. Concurrent fractures accelerate healing and enhance osteogenesis but disrupt regulatory mechanisms, leading to altered bone dynamics and exacerbating neuroinflammation, complicating recovery ...

Enhanced Brain‐Heart Connectivity as a Precursor of Reduced State Anxiety after Therapeutic Virtual Reality Immersion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that enhanced brain‐to‐heart coupling is a precursor of anxiety reduction following a virtual reality‐based non‐pharmacological intervention. Driven by midline beta rhythms, this effect suggests the involvement of central‐autonomic interactions.

Refractive Index‐Corrected Light‐Sheet Microscopy for Macro‐View Cardiovascular Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A refractive index‐corrected light‐sheet fluorescence microscopy system enables macro‐view cardiovascular imaging across organs, adapting to refractive index variations from different optical clearing protocols. By integrating axial sweeping, multi‐view imaging, and a sealed chamber, it extends the field of view, enhances isotropy, and improves safety.

Activation of Spinal Astrocyte α2A Adrenoceptors Protects Against Sepsis‐Induced Heart Injury Through Inhibition of GABAergic Neuronal Necroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study in this paper found that activating the α2A receptors of astrocytes in the thoracic spinal cord can reduce the release of inflammatory factors, thereby decreasing the necroptosis of GABAergic neurons and consequently alleviating myocardial injury caused by sepsis.

Sympathetic nervous system control of triglyceride metabolism: novel concepts derived from recent studies

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2014
Important players in triglyceride (TG) metabolism include the liver (production), white adipose tissue (WAT) (storage), heart and skeletal muscle (combustion to generate ATP), and brown adipose tissue (BAT) (combustion toward heat), the collective action

Emerging importance of satellite glia in nervous system function and dysfunction

open access: yesNature Reviews Neuroscience, 2020
Satellite glial cells (SGCs) closely envelop cell bodies of neurons in sensory, sympathetic and parasympathetic ganglia. This unique organization is not found elsewhere in the nervous system.

Advances in Medical Devices for Augmented Acupuncture Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Traditional acupuncture therapy faces several challenges in clinical applications, such as complex operation procedures and prolonged therapeutic periods. By incorporating physical stimulations and drug delivery technologies, engineered acupuncture needles (EANs) can enhance therapeutic efficacy, improve patient compliance, as well as mitigate ...

Relationships of Adrenoceptor Polymorphisms with Obesity

open access: yesJournal of Obesity, 2011
Obesity, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes are rapidly growing public health problems. Heightened sympathetic nerve activity is a well-established observation in obesity, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes.
